Day 2 | Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Ol Pejeta Conservancy
You may want to start your day early, drive out onto the plains, and see the sunrise from behind Mt Kenya – for these are the moments you shall not easily forget. More than simply a beautiful natural setting, these are also the ideal conditions for a safari.
Your game drive takes you through the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to some of Africa’s most vulnerable and threatened species. The conservancy contains the largest population of black rhinos in Kenya and performs a vital role in the conservation of the species.
It also holds Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx and Jackson’s Hartebeest, all of which are considered endangered. Together with a healthy population of elephants and a significant number of predators, including the rare African wild dog, it has all the makings of an unforgettable safari.
Lunch can be enjoyed back at the camp, and in the afternoon, you may decide to go on another game drive or visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary (optional). The sanctuary serves as a refuge for rescued chimpanzees and is the only place in Kenya where they can be seen.
With another exciting day drawing to a close, you return to your camp, sit by the campfire and listen to the sounds of the natural world around you.

Your camp and its spectacular location allow you to personalise your adventure. So, if you would like to go on a game walk escorted by a local guide, visit the local canine anti-poaching unit, take part in the lion tracking project or if you are an experienced horse rider and would like to ride amongst the animals in a predator-free zone, speak to your hosts and decide on your perfect morning activity.
Following a relaxing lunch at your camp, you may choose to go on an afternoon game drive. Your camp is one of the few that operates an electric safari vehicle. Provided the vehicle is available, it gives you the unique opportunity of silently approaching the wildlife around you whilst in a fully equipped safari vehicle.
Alternatively, visit the Morani Information Centre, where you can observe the last two northern white rhinos on our planet, a truly moving experience.
Or perhaps you would like to embark on a night game drive, to find some of the more elusive animals in the area. Whatever you choose, today has the makings of a unique safari day on your Kenya fly-in safari.
Some activities come at an extra cost and need to be booked in advance. Please contact us.

Friendly faces await you in this private conservancy and bring you from the airstrip to your next camp, the Elephant Pepper Camp. The drive to the camp is in itself already a short game drive. With only ten elegant tents, the camp is located in a beautiful valley and provides the perfect conditions for an exclusive safari experience.
Lunch can be enjoyed under the shade of one of the camp’s trees, and in the afternoon, your game drive will introduce you to the area and some of its natural inhabitants.
Later in the evening, you can take delight in a scrumptious dinner prepared for you by the Elephant Pepper Camp.
During the low season, it may occur that the flight from the Ol Pejeta Conservancy to the Mara North Conservancy is via Nairobi.

Mara North Conservancy – Masai Mara National Reserve
On this Kenya fly-in safari, those who rise early are often most rewarded. So, as the sun rises and the open savannah comes to light, you can marvel at the wildlife before you.
The Masai Mara is most famous for the Great Migration taking place every year and is your destination for today (seasonal). Millions of wildebeests and zebras migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara, following the rains and in search of fresh grass. But the area is famed for providing tremendous game viewing all year round, not only during the migration. Elephants roam here as they have for thousands of years, and predators continue to stalk their prey.
After an eventful safari day with exciting game drives, you return to your camp, and later, when you are sitting around the campfire, you will be sure to have plenty of new stories to tell.

Should you wish to stretch your legs a little and gain a new perspective of the area, an escorted bush walk in the fresh morning air might just be the thing for you.
Through your trained guide, learn not only about the Big 5, but also about the smaller creatures which play such an important role in the preservation of a healthy ecosystem.
Later, return to your camp and find a cosy corner to relax in. Your camp is wonderfully located, and it is not uncommon for the game to wander right beside your “doorstep”.
In the afternoon you may choose to go out on another game drive or perhaps you would like to learn more about the Masai and their proud heritage and customs. The camp offers a visit to a local Masai village nearby where you have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their way of life.

By now, you most likely instinctively rise with the morning sun and the chirping of the birds. So, have a cup of coffee or tea, before heading out for another morning game drive. You might see something you have never seen before.
A wholesome breakfast is awaiting you at the camp before it is time to say your goodbyes. You will be brought to the airstrip, from which your flight will take you back to Nairobi in order for you to continue your travels.
Your Kenya fly-in safari has come to an end. We hope to see you again!
