How to get around

When planning your safari, your choice of transportation and activities can greatly enhance your experience.

Choosing how to get around is essential, given that Kenya is 1.6 times larger than Germany. For an authentic safari, you can be driven from park to park in one of our custom 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser safari vehicles. Your dedicated private guide is also your driver.

Alternatively, a well-developed aviation industry allows you to take domestic or private chartered flights across the country, avoiding hours of road travel. Flights are conveniently scheduled, allowing for a morning game drive, flight, and afternoon game drive at the next park on your itinerary.

On fly-in safaris, your game drives will usually be done together with a guide and in a safari vehicle of your lodge.

You can also mix up your experience by driving one way and flying on the return trip.

Classic activities in Kenya include a sunrise balloon safari that concludes with a champagne breakfast and an exciting guided walking safari.

Private conservancies offer a variety of activities not found in other sub-Saharan countries. You can enjoy running through the wild, participating in lion-tracking, horseback riding, and helicopter rides, or visiting the last two northern white rhinos in the world.

Dawn and dusk are when most of the action happens on the plains, giving you a greater chance of witnessing a hunt. With windows and roof hatch open for better wildlife viewing, you keep the chilly morning at bay thanks to warm clothes and a blanket over your legs.

After an exciting morning of wildlife sightings, you can find the shade of a tree in a vast open plain and enjoy a bush brunch set on a table with accompanying chairs.

When the heat waves rising off the plains blur the horizon, all the wildlife seeks shade to while away the hot afternoon. It’s a good idea to follow nature’s example and head back to enjoy your lodge facilities and recharge from the early start.

Your lodge will be located within or close to the park’s borders, where more luxurious experiences await. Relax with a wellness treatment at the spa, enjoy your favourite beverage at the bar, gaze across the savannah, or return to relax in the privacy of your room.

Dinner in the bush will likely feel like one of the most luxurious experiences on safari. A starry sky, a table lit by lanterns, nocturnal calls emanating from afar, and world-class food await. You will be amazed by the delicacies the lodges’ chefs will conjure up despite being so deep in nature.

After a memorable dinner, return to your room and be serenaded by the sounds of the night. Sleep well, knowing that the following day will bring more memorable adventures on your luxury Kenya safari vacation.
