Emmanuel Mramba | Kenya Safari Guide
‘My safari guide Emanuel did a really fabulous job. He was knowledgeable about the wildlife, the parks where we were going, and an all-around fount of information about Kenya. He knew where to go and how to network so that we were able to see all five of the "Big 5", and a bunch more besides. This was a trip for the ages, and I couldn't be more happy with the service that Kenya-Experience provided.’

WHERE TO EXPERIENCE IT

EXPERIENCE KENYA’S SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS AND SOME HIDDEN GEMS

Kenya safaris occur in the north or south. The north has private conservancies and remote parks like Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Meru National Park. Our group safari visits the best of the south.

The Savannah to the Sea itinerary includes Lake Naivasha and the Masai Mara, Amboseli, and Tsavo West National Parks, ending at the coast with an optional beach holiday.

Alternatively, our East Africa’s Great National Parks tour covers Kenya’s highlights and Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.

When to go

Kenya’s equatorial location creates a tropical climate, allowing for year-round safaris. However, the best time to visit Kenya is during the dry season from June to October (the high season), which is characterised by optimal wildlife viewing and weather.

The shoulder seasons from November to mid-December (the short rains) and from January to mid-March (a short dry period) offer fewer visitors and slightly lower prices.

The low season is from mid-March to May, coinciding with the long rains.

June to October Best time for wildlife sightings

June to October Best time for wildlife sightings

The dry season offers the best weather and wildlife viewing on small group tours in Kenya. Pleasant temperatures prevail from June to October, with low humidity and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for safaris, treks, and beach getaways.

Thanks to to the high concentrations of wildlife residing near permanent water sources and sparse vegetation, wildlife spotting is easier during the dry season.

However, it is the high season, and booking should be made a few months in advance.

Rainy Season

March to May Best time for landscape photography

March to May Best time for landscape photography

Daily rainfall occurs in the late afternoon from mid-March to May when humidity and temperatures are high. April receives the highest rainfall, making some parks inaccessible. Plentiful rain means that the wildlife moves away from dry-season water sources, and dense vegetation makes wildlife viewing more challenging.

However, if you are flexible when plans change slightly due to rain and enjoy being in nature with few visitors, the low season is an excellent time to visit Kenya and take advantage of lower prices.

As you continue your journey, you will stay overnight at Lake Naivasha to enjoy a quintessential Kenyan experience before visiting one of Kenya’s most beautiful parks – Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is a haven for elephants and offers stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro from dramatic plains.

The final park, Tsavo West National Park, offers superb wildlife viewing along the Tsavo River.
