Getting to Kenya

Flying into Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) allows you to easily visit most of Kenya’s parks. Mombasa's Moi International Airport (MBA/HKMO) at the coast is the ideal departure point if your safari ends with a beach holiday. To get around, you will be driven by guides or enjoy a fly-in safari.

Money, Budgeting & Tips

While safaris may come with a higher price tag, our guests consistently report that the unique and enriching experiences make every penny worthwhile. The official currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES), available from ATMs in major towns. However, safari, flights, accommodation, and park fees are payable and priced in US dollars.

Weather and Climate

Kenya's weather is influenced by a tropical climate, resulting in pleasant temperatures year-round. Instead of distinct summer and winter seasons, Kenya experiences two rainy and two dry seasons. The dry seasons are ideal for safaris, beach retreats, and mountain climbing. Our month-by-month guide highlights other excellent times to visit Kenya.
