Who Should Go
If you’re looking for a shorter safari that lets you experience the Big Five and more, this four-day Masai Mara safari in one of Africa’s most famous parks promises an unforgettable journey.
Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the chance to focus on a single park, which allows for a more in-depth exploration of large predators and their prey, as well as the smaller species that are often overlooked. If you visit between August and October, you may witness the Great Wildebeest Migration.
The Masai Mara is the ultimate safari destination, offering something for everyone.
You can choose to fly to Kenya’s coast after your Masai Mara safari and extend your stay with a tropical beach holiday.

“Our entire group wished they could stay longer in the Mara; hopefully this means they will get to come back. I would definitely recommend Kenya-Experience, and our guides/drivers to anyone looking to have an awesome experience on safari.”Peter Mbugua | Lodge Safari

Once you have met you guide, you hit the road in your 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser to begin your Masai Mara safari.
You leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind, making your way to the Mara. Enjoy stunning views across the Great Rift Valley from your guaranteed window seat before you head deeper into Masai land.
You will arrive in the Mara in the early afternoon in time for your first game drive in this truly magnificent corner of the earth. The Masai Mara is an icon of East African safari adventures: looking for and observing lions, elephants, buffaloes and many more will be the order of your day these next few days.
Arrive at the Ilkeliani Camp on the banks of the Talek River when the sun sets. This enchanting and eco-conscious tented camp will be your base for the next three nights to explore the Mara.

Mornings start early in the bush. But waking up in a spacious tented camp under large trees, birds chirping and the excitement of discovery ahead the hour of the day is quickly forgotten when you head out for the day.
You will take a packed lunch and enjoy a picnic along the way which means you can explore the Masai Mara from morning until the late afternoon on these two days. You have enough time to explore remote corners and learn from your guide about the animals’ behaviour.
During the Great Migration, when thousands of wildebeest and zebras migrate to the Mara from the plains of the Serengeti, you may be in luck and witness a river-crossing at the Mara River. But no matter what time of the year you come to the Mara, many different species call this place home year-round.
Cheetahs, hyenas and antelopes roam the savannah, while leopards hide in the thicket of the trees and hippos and crocodiles inhabit the waters. Look forward to wildlife encounters which will stay in your memory for a long time to come.
In the evening, enjoy a sundowner on your private balcony or chat with other travellers at the bar about your adventures of the day. You will spend your second and third nights in the bush in the Ilkeliani Camp.

Masai Mara Region – Nairobi
Distance approx. 280 km; driving time approx. 6-7 hours
You’ll be surprised how many different animals you will have seen and how much you will have learned from your guide by now. On this fourth day of your Masai Mara safari you have become a safari expert and it is now time to leave the bush behind and head back to the city.
Since animals don’t mind borders you may still see wildlife when leaving the Mara region, before you get back on tarmac leading you to Nairobi. Here, we will bring you to your hotel or the airport and say our goodbyes.
Alternatively, you can book a flight to the shores of the Indian Ocean and relax at the tropical beaches of Diani Beach. Thanks to an airstrip in the Mara region, you can enjoy a cocktail under palm trees just hours after dusting off from your adventures in the bush. Get in touch for more details!
Important: on flights to Diani Beach, luggage is restricted to 15 kg (incl. hand luggage) in a soft bag.
