Nairobi – Aberdare National Park
Distance approx. 180 km; driving time approx. 3.5 hours
After a short briefing in the morning, the journey begins in your 4×4 Land Cruiser.
Your first destination is Aberdare National Park, known for its thick mountain rainforest and bamboo forests, which distinguish it from the dry savannahs of other national parks. Here, you will also find most of the park’s wildlife.
The Aberdare National Park is home to elephants, buffaloes, leopards, baboons and other primates. With a little bit of luck, you will even spot the rare Bongo antelope.
If the weather conditions allow, you can even see Mount Kenya, the second-highest mountain in Africa, in the distance.
Due to the high altitude, it can get chilly and you should definitely bring a jersey or jacket on game drives. You will spend the first night of our best Kenya camping safari on a campsite in the Aberdare National Park.

The journey continues to Lake Nakuru National Park. This alkaline lake attracts millions of flamingos each year. The water often shimmers in hues of pink when looking from a distance, making for an iconic Kenyan photo scene.
Another highlight is the population of black and white rhinos living in the park. Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the best spots to observe these endangered species.

Distance approx. 120 km; driving time approx. 2 hours
You will have time for another game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park before you head to Hells Gate National Park.
In Hells Gate’s dry savannah, you can spot buffaloes, zebras, eland antelopes, Thompson gazelles, baboons and more than 100 different species of birds.
Today, you will stretch your legs, hiking through a spectacular gorge and take a dip in the hot springs, dusting off after the hike.
Your campsite for the night is situated on the shores of Lake Naivasha, under picturesque yellow fever acacia trees. Lake Naivasha is one of the few freshwater lakes in the Great Rift Valley.
In the veil of darkness, hippos will leave the water to graze on the shores. In the early evening hours, you can listen to their grazing and observe these impressive animals from a safe distance. You will spend the night in your tent at the shore of Lake Naivasha.

In the afternoon, you will have reached the Masai Mara and embark on your first game drive in this world-renowned part of Kenya. The Mara is known for its large populations of wildlife and home to the Big Five. Since animals don’t adhere to border control, you can see plenty of wildlife even in the adjacent areas of the game reserve.
You will spend the night on a campsite just outside of the Mara Triangle in a secluded area of the western part of the Masai Mara.

Day 5 | Masai Mara Game Reserve
Masai Mara Game Reserve
Extensive game drives through the amazing Masai Mara are the order of the day. Scouting for wildlife in the wide savannah, you will also drive to the Mara River.
The Masai Mara is known for the Great Migration: millions of wildebeest and zebras follow the rains from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the savannah of the Masai Mara in Kenya, in search of greener pastures. These large herds of animals also attract many predators. Lions, leopards, cheetah and hyenas lurk in the shadows, waiting for their next meal.
The “greatest show on earth”, as the Great Migration is also known, reaches its peak when wildebeests and zebras have to cross the crocodile-infested Mara River. Crossing the river is a matter of life or death for the animals and a great spectacle of nature to observe.
However, many animals stay in the Masai Mara year-round which makes the game reserve an attractive safari destination any month of the year. You will spend the night on the same campsite as the night before.
