Day 1 | Day 1 Nairobi – Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – Giraffe Centre – Karen Blixen Museum – Nairobi

Day 1 Nairobi – Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – Giraffe Centre – Karen Blixen Museum – Nairobi

After the city’s morning rush has settled, your driver will collect you from your hotel in Nairobi, and your day trip can begin.

First, you head out to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The Trust does an amazing job of caring for and rehabilitating orphaned elephant calves and a visit is at the top of the list of many Nairobi day trips. You will gain many interesting insights into the incredible work the Trust does and witness these adorable young elephants happily being fed their very own special milk formula.

Your next stop is not far, for you are visiting the Giraffe Centre next. Your visit alone will contribute to the conservation work the Centre carries out. Take some time to feed the giraffes and connect with them. They are more interactive than you might think.

All the feeding might have awoken your appetite by now. So, onwards to the Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens for lunch. If the weather is suited, sit outside, order something delicious from the set menu, and perhaps indulge in a cocktail from the bar.

After your lunch break, you make your way to a beautiful, century-old farmhouse. But not just any farmhouse. It was the former home of Karen Blixen and now houses the Karen Blixen Museum.

Guided tours are offered on-site, so you can explore the home of one of Kenya’s most famous residents and be transported back in time.

Following an interesting day, and as evening slowly begins to fall over Kenya’s capital, your driver will bring you back to your hotel in Nairobi. Your Nairobi day trip has come to an end.
